There are several locations to put something in the water to paddle like a kayak, canoe etc.

Some of the very best locations are in the north west corner of the lake and the far west end of the large parking area.

There are about 8 parking spots very close to haul gear down a minor grade to the water. The best spot in October of 2012 was on the eastern edge of the pilings between the parking the H2O. See the picture with the gravel and sandy spot. At other times the water might higher and conditions might be different.

Other spots along the west entrance to the park where the dinosaurs we drive to get there are kept, there are several places to put in, if you aren't too lazy to haul the gear a ways.

There is also a boat ramp in the east entrance park of the park.

The shoreline of the east side of the park isn't very inviting to put-in since there are banks and large boulders along the waters edge.

Lake Padden is a Bellingham park. It is south of Bellingham proper 4882 Samish Way, Bellingham, WA.
See the map provided.

This is at least a three season paddling location. If the winter isn't to hardcore there might be some paddling.

Wind and underwater debris might be the biggest deals besides car prowlers. I don't think this site is famous for wind like the salt water on the other side of the Blanchard Mountain in the Larrabee State Park area etc.

Paddle route
The route around the lake is 2 miles. With the right breeze it is a very relaxing place to paddle.

Lake Padden is a great visual setting. That's because there aren't many human things like houses etc covering the landscape like most lakes in Western Washington. The welcome to California weather of October 2012 and the GREENERY was great.

There is noise from the main road on the northern edge of the lake. So like most places an early Sunday morning paddle is a good way to beat the Harley noise.

There are stores in the Bellingham area if you need some food and gas.

The park doesn't have any camping. Check out Larrabee State Park not far away on Chuckanut Drive. It's situated on the salt water, and also offers some kayaking possibilities for them with the right skills and gear.
